The Twilight of Life: Lessons from Pope Francis

Inspired by a recent podcast episode that discussed Pope Francis visit to the Biennale of Venice published by America Media, Inside the Vatican. The episode made me think, and briefly paused my other commentary work on Methane Emissions and drove me take another short writing detour towards the more spiritual.
We are living during very emotional times. Many of us wonder if the world has crossed into a significant region of moral and spiritual decline. Our media continues to focus, to chase headlines and easy ratings, on news items that, inadvertently glorify pain, suffering, despair, and political disagreement and armed conflict. Imagine the following thought experiment, an AI program that sifts through the headlines and news stories, and provides a cumulative sentiment score for all the news that is peddled onto the internet, social media and, of course, traditional media channels. I can safely predict that score would most likely be below a passing grade, and receive an “F” on the scale of positivity.
