Maniscalcomania- Italian-American Stand Up
Comedic Brilliance worth writing about
I am a big fan of comedian and actor, Sebastian Maniscalco. Just look at that last name, a beautiful example of phonetic balance. Four syllables, 4 vowels, a jewel for us Italian-Americans, myself included. The meaning itself of the name also conjures up images of ancient European villages where “maniscalchi” , or “farriers” in modern English , artisans that specialized in equine hoof care, contributed to the more rustic way of life.
Sebastian is a popular stand up comedian, and actor. I discovered him on YouTube a few years ago, and been hooked ever since. I am dying to go see him perform live, and can’t wait until his tour hits Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Eastern CT. Hey, I am even open to shelling out $300 plus per ticket because I know the show will be worth it.
So why Sebastian Masniscalco? Why do I enjoy his comedy so much? Two reasons.
The first reason is ethnic resonance. This is an easy one. He is Italian-American. So am I. That makes it easy to relate to the world he makes fun of without effort.
