Why spending time in the kitchen can help you bring you back into your element

Life throws all of us curve balls, sometimes more than one at time and we often end up in a space where the juggling seems impossible, overwhelming and just plain dreadful. Pressures arise from work , from family realities, from the flow of world news, pandemics, and from the fact that we often look back at the past through a too strong of a negative lens. To cope with situations such as these, it is important that we are able to maintain a form of inner equilibrium. It is important that we find or invent for ourselves ways coping mechanisms that help us re calibrate and counter-balance in positive ways thoughts, emotions and behaviors that lock us up. When we don’t we can end up in not so happy places.

If for a moment we put aside the dread that the world has the potential to present to us and open our minds to think about times, experiences and activities that bring us back into our element, then we have a way to readjust. For some the idea of physical escape such as travel and exploring new worlds is the re- balancing factor. For others, reading , writing or generally artistic expression can help construct a friendly and warm alcove where we can occasionally park our minds and souls. For some…
